Globus Toolkit post-installation notes

A few problems encountered after Globus Toolkit 4.2.1 installation and configuration:

While submitting a job:

globusrun-ws: Job failed: Error code: 201Script stderr:
sudo: sorry, you must have a tty to run sudo

The “requiretty” option must be removed from sudoers file.

globusrun-ws: Job failed: Error code: 200Sudo is misconfigured to run the
globus-job-manager-script.pl script for user $USER.

User “globus” needs to be in sudoers file.

While transferring data with GridFTP:

error: globus_ftp_client: the server responded with an error
530 530-Login incorrect. : globus_gss_assist: Gridmap lookup failure: Could not map /DN ENTRY/
530-
530 End.

GridFTP server needs to run as ‘root’: http://www.globus.org/mail_archive/discuss/2002/05/msg00337.html

    [condor@mouse ~]$ globus-url-copy gsiftp://cow.cs.memphis.edu/etc/issue file:/tmp/foo1

error: globus_ftp_client: the server responded with an error
    530 530-Login incorrect. : globus_gss_assist: Gridmap lookup failure: Could not map /O=Grid/OU=GlobusTest/OU=ConsortiumTutorial/OU=cs.memphis.edu/CN=condor
    530-
    530 End.

on cow.cs.memphis.edu , there is a grid-map file and the server is also running there. I did check the gridmap consistency ,,, it says OK . I added teh entry using globus-gridmap-file-entry (something) command to added the contents in the gridmap file…. My gridmap file location is not default. I set GRIDMAP environmental variable too.

I have valid proxy on condor@mouse.cs.memphis.edu. But still I get this error ???

    Thanks in advance

As you can see from my post above, when I faced the same error and I looked it up on Globus mail archive, it was suggested that the GridFTP daemon should run as ‘root’. Running services as ‘root’ is not the best thing to do, but I guess it has to do with permissions over certificates and grid-map related files which sensitive and should have root as owner…
